Lil Wayne Announces Engagement to Madi Cannon After Summer Split

Lil Wayne has reportedly reconciled with Madi Cannon and says the two are now engaged, according to the source outlet’s report. The announcement comes after a brief breakup earlier this year.

Surprise Reveal in a Congratulatory Video

On Monday (Sept. 28), the New Orleans rapper recorded a video to congratulate fellow Hot Boys member B.G. on his own recent engagement. During the clip, Cannon appears behind Wayne, who then shares that she is his bride-to-be as well.

“And I’m marrying this one,” Wayne said after offering his congratulations. “This is Madison. This is my fianceĆ©. Let us know what color we wearing. I’m the best man, ya heard me!”

A Look Back at the Split

Earlier this year, Wayne was rumored to be engaged to Cannon, a 23-year-old native of Kokomo, Indiana. In early July, he confirmed in an Instagram video that the two had been dating but had since separated. At that time, he also denied that they had ever been engaged.

“I would like to clear something up,” Wayne said in the July post. “No, I am not engaged. I had a beautiful thing going with an amazing person. But, obviously, due to the validity of the temperature of today’s crazy world and culture, I considered I don’t want to be such a burden on such an amazing person. So, we decided to part.”

He captioned that post, “It is what it was.”

Where Things Stand

Neither the source nor Wayne’s latest video explains what led to the reconciliation or what issues prompted the earlier split. The source text suggests only that whatever the problem was appears to have been resolved. No wedding date or further details have been shared in the report.

The news was first highlighted in a report on the engagement and the rapper’s video message to B.G., which also marked a moment of celebration for the Hot Boys group, as both members are now engaged.
